1. Also known as organic rankings, natural rankings are gained as a result of applying the marketing technique called SEO, or search engine optimisation. It costs the web site owner nothing when a search engine user clicks on these natural ranking results.

2. Click the link to check an up-to-date ranking for the web site using that particular search phrase on the specific search engine. The ranking information above is given in good faith and is accurate at the time of publishing. Natural rankings fluctuate even on a day-to-day basis by several positions on most of the search engines.

3. This data is included to give some idea of the competitiveness for that particular search phrase when being bid for using pay-per-click (PPC) advertising (as opposed to the free natural search engine rankings that are illustrated in the table above). Google AdWords provides a tool that estimates the cost to bid a search phrase-driven ad into positions 1 - 3 on Google Adwords (the small ads down the right-hand side of Google). The cost-per-click represents approximately how much an advertiser bidding on that search phrase has to pay Google every time a Google user clicks on the AdWords ad that is served. This data can help give some financial context to the importance of a high natural SEO ranking for a particular search phrase. 

4. No result for the client's web site was found in the first 3 pages of search engine results. The majority of search engine users have the default number of results per page at 10 results. So "Not found" is no result found within the top 30 results of that search engine.
